Busy time in Greenville, SC

Joy Set Entertainment is very busy during the month of October, but would still love to make your special event extra special. (864) 299 1949

I love this time of the year.  Joy Set Entertainment is going to be busy all over Greenville, SC for the next month.  And we even have some birthday party entertainment in Anderson and a church ministry in Spartanburg.

I have updated this site with a balloon twisting and balloon decorating page.  It is under “What We Do”  And soon I will be adding a face paint page.  We want all the folks in Greenville, SC and surrounding areas to be able to find us and the many different services that we offer.

Also October is the anniversary month for Joy Set Entertainment.  Hard to believe, but this will make 15 years of doing birthday parties, libraries, school shows, corporate events, balloon twisting, and face painting for Joy Set Entertainment.  Thanks to all of you, our incredible fans and clients.

Face Painting By Paula

Joy Set Entertainment offers face painters that are fast and artistic for birthday parties, corporate events and more. Contact us today (864) 299 1949

Greenville face painter will amaze

The featured face painter for Joy Set Entertainment is Paula.  People are continually amazed by her combination of skill and speed.  In other words, she has cool designs that are done quickly.   Paula dicovered her natural talent several years ago, when she decided to try face painting just for fun at an event in Greenville.  Since then she has been to many face painting conventions and has years of practice with the art.

Many people think of face painting as  just simple cheek designs.  While hearts, smiley faces, and other cheek art are examples of some quick face painting, there is so much more.   Full face designs can be done with just a little more work than small art.  My favorite face painting  incorporates a part of the face such as the mouth or an eye into the design. A clown’s kids

Growing up with clowns at home. What it's like to participate in clowning as a kid. 864-299-1949

Our kids have grown up with two parents that are professional clowns.  That’s right, daddy is Carl aka the Tie Dye Balloon Guy, aka Will Rejoice, aka Inri, aka Aydeloof.  Mommy is Paula, aka B. Glad, aka Jewels, aka Uletta, aka Face Painting by Paula.   All three kids were just a few hours old when they wore their first clown nose, a spongeball with a slit cut in it.

Although they are surrounded by clown props, balloons and face painting supplies every day, they rarely enjoy the same excitement that other children experience when they see their parents dressed as a clown. They are still intrigued about seeing other clowns, especially circus clowns, even though they are used to seeing both parents wear makeup.

At this time, they are still proud that their parents are clowns. They brag to their friends about what we do. They are also currently interested in joining the “family business”. While none of the three are interested in all of the clowning aspects, they do all have interest in at least one area. For instance, the girls are more interested in trying their hands at face painting and our son is well known for his perfect timing in joke delivery (especially puns). They all like to try twisting some basic balloon creations at times, but rarely are they for their own enjoyment. I think that is what makes their interest so meaningful. They already understand the joy that comes from giving their accomplishments away. In fact, we usually chuckle when people find out we have children, saying they must get this stuff all the time. The answer is “no” because they know it is in the giving away of laughter that brings the satisfaction to a clown.

Help With Choosing a Party Theme

birthdaycake

It can be a tough task to come up with a birthday party theme (or any other party theme for that matter).  Here are ten suggestions for how to come up with a theme for a party.

  1. Ask your child.  Sure its obvious, but a lot of parents tend to forget just who the party is for in the first place.   A really young child may not know, or may have dozens of ideas.
  2. What is their favorite movie?  What movie could they be content with watching over and over again?  Chances are with a little bit of creativity, you could turn it into a great theme.
  3. Do they go onto websites?  What are there favorite sites on the world wide web?  Maybe its Poptropica or Webkinz or one of the hundreds of kid friendly sites out there.  Why not build a party around one of those themes?  Trust me, the other kids will think its cool.
  4. Try a school theme.  Find out your childs favorite subject in school (recess and lunch don’t count).  Now get your mind to thinking and come up with a party around that.   For added fun, see if your child’s teacher will come to the party for a little role reversal where the kids get to “school” the teacher.
  5. Visit a local party supply store.  They make it easy with decorations, invitations, and supplies all ready for you to pick out.
  6. Build a party around the entertainment.  Of course you are going to hire Joy Set Entertainment for your party ;o).  If the entertainment is going to be a magician, use that as your theme.  Are you hiring a clown?  Use a circus theme.  There are lots of possibilities there.  Ask your entertainer for suggestions.
  7. Television shows.  Don’t go for just cartoons.  Get some karaoke CD’s and have an American Idol party.  At the end all the “contestants” sing the birthday song.  What about a Survivor theme?
  8. Use their age as a theme.  With a little thought you can come up with food, game ideas, and more built around your child’s age.  How about serving 7-Up?   You could play Crazy 8s or Phase 10.
  9. What does your child want to be when they grow up?    Build a fun party theme around your child’s dream job.
  10. There are thousands of ideas at the library and on the internet.  Try Birthday Party Ideas  just for starters.

Feel free to add your own ideas for how you come up with themes in the comments section.  And check out our birthday party page  for more information.

Balloon Dresses

Last week the Today Show had a segment featuring a balloon fashion show. Since then I have had an increase in the number of people asking me about balloon dresses. Perhaps you have seen the email that is circulating around with the amazing pictures of balloon fashion. That is when it is cool to be “in the know” about things like this.

I know all the designers that were featured in the Today Show segment. I have eaten lunch with them and twisted balloon with some at balloon conventions.  All are incredibly talented artists and great, friendly folks. Aeradeco Video has just released a new DVD all about making balloon dresses, and FLOAT (a balloon decorator convention) will have at least one class about making balloon fashion this year.

If you are interested in getting your own balloon dress, contact Joy Set Entertainment and we will be happy to forward your information on to the nearest designer.  Of course the price of the dress will depend on “inflation.”
